Welcome!

Hello Students/Guardians,

My name is Jennifer Rousey and I'll be teaching 6th grade Geography, 7th grade Medieval History, 9th grade Ethnic Studies, and 11th grade American History this year. 

 

I have BA in History from San Francisco State University and an MA in Teaching History from the University of Southern California.

 

I'm a teacher from a family of teachers. I love history, and am excited to share and pass on this enthusiasm to students. 

 

I feel like in order for students to care about history and gain an understanding of history it has to be interesting and interactive. I try to integrate as many different types of sources as I can throughout units (art, music, first person narratives, videos, podcasts, maps, etc) and I also include at least one hands on project in each unit. 

 

I've been preparing lessons and activities all summer that I hope students will enjoy and find engaging as well as enlightening. 

 

I can always be contacted through my district email and schoology, and will strive to be as responsive as possible.

 

As soon as the semester starts I plan to share a class specific google doc that will keep both students and guardians up to date, not only on what was assigned during each week, but what the students have been learning about and what they did in class each day.
