Meet Justin!

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

I currently serve as the chair of the social studies department, head coach of our policy debate team, the school's service-learning coordinator, and I am the editor-in-chief of the school yearbook. I am also on the school's ILT (Instructional Leadership Team). I can be found in Room 25 all day if needed.

I have taught at Lake Balboa College Prep for several years now, and I can tell you that this is a special place with an amazing community.

I am happy to have all of you in my classes this year. Please bring your materials, computer, and a positive attitude to class every day!

You can find a syllabus for each class on Schoology. Please (parents/guardians and students) sign the syllabus and contact me ASAP if you have any questions.

You should join our championship Policy Debate Team! We are a part of LAMDL, a great league that you can learn more about here: https://www.lamdl.org/home

Please also consider following us on Instagram: @lakebalboadebate

Our students compete at city-wide (and sometimes nation-wide) tournaments to discus important issues in a competitive tournament format. In the past we have debated criminal justice system reform, water resources protection, the sale of arms to foreign countries, and U.S. immigration laws.

The topic for the 23-24 school year is:

“Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income.”

This domestic topic will focus on economics, morality, history, and different conceptions of the proper role of government.

Please remember to charge your Chromebooks at home each day!
